Derby Day Nursery and Preschool (formerly Riverside Day Nursery) provides quality care and education with a home-from-home environment.
In terms of catchment area, the nearest school to us is Alvaston. Due to our location, we have children who attend schools throughout Derby and outside. Our wide-ranging and excellent resources provide many opportunities for the children to take part in various activities. The children make their own choices and learn through play. The nursery is situated at the David Lloyd Club and we have the use of their facilities, including the dance studio and soft play areas. We are also very lucky to have a large, well equipped outdoor play area, with balcony, which is suitable to be used in all weathers.
All the children have a key person who will observe and track their learning and development and plan activities based on their interests and needs. We provide a delicious healthy menu, and have our own cook on site who can adapt the menu to any dietary need. Derby Nursery is an ideal location for parents who work in the city, and also for commuters. We are close to the motorway and a five-minute walk from the train station.
The nursery is situated at David Lloyd club upon Pride Park. As you drive to David Lloyd the barrier will require you to press the button for the barrier to lift. Bright Horizons is located off the A6 Pride Park Way.

I have worked in the sector for 20 years holding various positions that have enabled me to deliver only the very best pedagogical childcare practice on a daily basis. Children learn when they are secure, confident and trust the adults they are with on a daily basis; this is the goal for every practitioner in this nursery. I totally enjoy providing support and guidance to the team of dedicated early year’s practitioners here, ensuring each child builds a treasured memory of attending this Bright Horizons Derby Nursery and Pre-School. I have my Early Years Teacher Status and Masters in Education, which has provided me with the underpinning knowledge of learning and development with under-fives. Within my career, I have been involved with Derby City groups for steering the direction of early years in the City.
I have been married for over 30 years and I enjoy being with my family whilst spending time with my daughter who is embarking on her higher education pathway. In our spare time, we enjoy travelling to enjoy other cultures.
I have worked in child care for 20 years; I started as a room leader in a Pre-school and worked my way up to Manager. I joined Riverside 5 years ago as a Deputy Manager and enjoy my time working across all rooms supporting staff, children and their families.
I am an Early Years Professional who is passionate about working with young children and giving them a strong foundation in life. I am patient, tolerant, and a responsible individual, motivating children to learn and inspire confidence in them. I have over 20 years of working in early years in many roles that has given me so much experience in the sector. I have been married for over 23 years with 3 beautiful girls, 2 of which are at higher education and 1 in primary school, I love cooking and creating fusion foods as a hobby.
The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
