A place to grow

City Child Day Nursery and Preschool offers childcare and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years with a warm, welcoming environment supporting the transition from home to nursery. Our highly qualified team helped us secure a Good rating in our latest Ofsted inspection.

Our setting has bright and airy rooms with full length windows looking out into wildlife areas. The spacious outdoor garden, a bonus in a city centre setting, offers children the opportunity to extend their learning outdoors.

Alongside a range of carefully planned activities from quiet story time to role play, messy activities, singing and heuristic play, our unique Ready for School Programme including Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians further prepares our children for their transition to school.

There are no hidden extras and our fees include all meals and snacks, branded nappies, wipes, creams and formula baby milk as appropriate.

Meet the Team

City Child Day Nursery and Preschool Deputy Manager

Fazeena Akhtar

I joined Bright Horizons as a room leader and quickly made my way up and was promoted to deputy manager helping to support and guide the team. I have an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and I completed my course in Nursery Management in 2014.

I previously worked for a City of London nursery where I began as a nursery nurse, being promoted to room leader. After a few years years I joined Bright Horizons, supporting the baby room, helping new children and families settle into the nursery environment.

I have always enjoyed being in the childcare field and the sense of achievement it brings when you see the children in your care happy, confident and learning new skills ready for their school years - just knowing that I have been an important part of their lives makes me feel very privileged and proud.

Issachar cover for City Child

I have worked at City child since 2011. During my time with Bright Horizons i have learnt so much about children and the way they are all different and unique in their own way.

I started as a Nursery nurse and have worked my way up to Deputy Manager for the setting.

I look forward to spending many more years with Bright Horizons.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
