Meet the Team

Shelley Connolly

My name is Shelley Connolly and I have been working with children and their families professionally for 12 years, 8 of which in managerial roles.

I have 2 children aged 4 and 7, so understand the pressures of being a working mum with a young family. Therefore I can empathise with how difficult it can be to leave your most precious treasures with us, your children. With this in mind I aim to create a nursery environment where communication and partnership is key. We work with families to support the children in our care, taking onto account children and their families’ individual needs.

We want children's time with us to be fun and enjoyable which is supported through strong attachments with key people. This in turn, creates the foundation of emotional security and happiness in children which therefore enables all aspects of learning to take place naturally, with key people there to support and scaffold children's learning.

Lucy Cranston

I have been at Churchfield House Nursery and Preschool since it opened in 2009. I am Level 3 qualified with a wealth of experience. My experience ranges from being a Nanny in Singapore to Teaching Assistant, Nursery Assistant and Nursery Nurse. I then became Deputy Nursery Manager in 2012 and have supported the Nursery Manager in providing quality care and education. At the nursery we endeavour to provide for all families’ needs whilst maintaining a friendly and highly qualified staff team.

Miss Hampshire

I have been working at Churchfield House preschool since September 2014 after graduating from Plymouth University with a BA (HONS) degree in Early Childhood Studies. I also obtained early year’s teacher status while at university which specialises in the development and teaching of children from birth to five years.

During my time at university I undertook placements in many different types of settings which alongside my studies, has allowed me to develop my practice and knowledge when working with children of different ages. I firmly believe in the ethos of the EYFS of learning through play and engaging with children and their interests to enhance their understanding and build upon their current skills.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
