A place to grow

Our Moortown children's day nursery to the north of Leeds is a friendly and exciting environment that children will enjoy. We are rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted and provide quality childcare with a highly-qualified, caring team.

The children learn and develop while enjoying the activities we provide. There are four play rooms that provide a stimulating environment which encourages the child's inbuilt curiosity while helping them discover that learning is fun. The low-level furniture allows the children unrestricted access to our wide range of resources and activities, and the play rooms are structured in such a way as to promote each child's independence, along with their decision-making and problem-solving skills.

We are pleased to announce our total garden refurbishment is open as of November 2018. Our new garden includes:

  • All new “No Mo” soft play flooring,
  • New outdoor equipment,
  • Mark making tables,
  • Refreshed baby area,
  • Activity sheds,
  • Climbing equipment.

Once a family registers with us, we work closely with them to structure their child's bespoke settling-in session. Each child is allotted a key person to ensure consistency throughout this process. Each child’s key person builds strong bonds with their key children, following their individual care routines and providing for their holistic needs. This approach enables us to ensure every child's learning and development is focused on preparation for life beyond nursery.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage programme so that all the activities provided meet children's developmental age and stage targets through activities geared to their interests. There are nine primary schools, including faith schools, within a mile of the nursery. The nursery also provides support to children with special needs and liaises with external agencies to ensure appropriate support is given.

Following on from the fee freeze during 2018 we are pleased to be able to tell you that from 1st September our all-inclusive nursery fees at Moortown will be at a new lower rate.

Mindful of the current economic climate and the challenges this brings for our families, we try hard to keep our fees competitive while always balancing this with the need to maintain the high standards of service you expect of us and which we demand of ourselves.

We really value the loyalty and support of our nursery families and are delighted that we are able to offer you these new, more affordable fees for the coming year.

We will be delighted to welcome you to Moortown pre-school & day nursery. Our friendly, experienced and highly qualified staff are on hand to conduct a personal nursery tour at a time to suit you.

Meet the Team

Dawn Spencer

I have been in childcare for over 25 years, beginning my career as a child minder, I then qualified as a level 3 practitioner. In  2010 I graduated from Leeds University with a BA Hons in Early Childhood Studies. I have worked as a manager for fifteen years, running my own childcare business for 8 years of those.

Claire Staves

I have been in childcare since 1995 qualifying with a Btec National Diploma in Nursery Nursing, and have worked in a number of outstanding early years settings predominantly in the pre-school age group.

I am passionate about my role and have a special interest in special educational needs.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
