Asquith Edinburgh Day Nursery

Asquith Edinburgh Day Nursery

Why Children Love Us

A place to grow

Edinburgh children's day nursery is a friendly, welcoming extension of the family, rated ‘Very Good’ by the Care Inspectorate. We have an excellent reputation for providing childcare in Edinburgh in the local area and run a waiting list. We were proud to be finalists in two categories at the Scottish NMT Awards 2015.

Our day nursery in Edinburgh provides childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years from a purpose-built setting within the David Lloyd Leisure Club at Gyle Park, Glasgow Road.

Come and see for yourself what makes us the most popular nursery in Edinburgh! There is an indescribable feeling when you walk into a nursery and you know that it's right for you and your child.

Our highly qualified and diverse staff team strive to give that feeling to every parent who walks through our door. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, loving environment where children can flourish and be themselves.

All our rooms are bright and airy with a lot of natural light. We have beautiful, specially-made furniture and play equipment from Community Playthings, as well as a computer and IT resources for exciting new ways to learn. The display boards within each room are filled with photos and children's artwork reflecting their current interests.

Recent investment in our nursery has seen an amazing, brand new kitchen fitted within the nursery. Our chef now prepares all meals for children each day with fresh, seasonal ingredients. All diets, allergies and preferences are catered for safely using our traffic light plating system.

Outdoors in our large garden you’ll find the learning environment continues to support children’s development across the curriculum, with lots of scope for investigating and making discoveries. There is a separate under-twos garden where the children can explore in safety.

We also offer outings in the local area and swimming at the David Lloyd Leisure Club.

Safety is paramount and we have robust security procedures. There is a buzzer entry system with CCTV and all adults collecting children require passwords and photo ID.

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
