Barley Barn Sawbridgeworth Day Nursery is based in a beautiful, Grade 2 listed country house along with a converted stable annex and brand new modular classroom building in the centre of Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire.
The pre-school children at our Sawbridgeworth children's day nursery benefit from having their own dedicated annex to enable them to flourish and reach their full potential in readiness for school. The nursery is open for 52 weeks of the year and operates from 7.30am – 6.30pm, Monday to Friday. Our vibrant and fun nursery offers morning, afternoon and all day childcare sessions for children aged 3 months to 5 years of age.
Food is provided by our fully trained, dedicated chef who prepares healthy nutritionally balanced meals and snacks using fresh locally sourced ingredients on a daily basis. We are fortunate enough to have two gardens at the day nursery in Sawbridgeworth which enable a very wide range of fun activities to take place outside every day, allowing us to offer a broad outdoor age related curriculum. Abundant parking is available in the Bell Street Car Park adjacent to the nursery and this ensures easy access.
We will be delighted to welcome you to Barley Barn Sawbridgeworth Day Nursery.

I joined the Sawbridgeworth team as Deputy Manager in July 2019. Whilst working full time, I studied towards my Ba(Hons) in Early Childhood Studies and graduated in 2017. The majority of my experience over the last 8 years has been with pre-school aged children, however since having my own daughter - it has opened up a whole new world of baby development and play ideas for me. I have a real love for sensory, malleable and messy play and like to share my knowledge with those around me, in the hope it’ll inspire them to provide inviting, fun and meaningful learning opportunities for the children in our care. I’m passionate about working closely with parents/carers and it’s something I strive to do daily - whether it’s an informal chat about a child’s development, sharing ideas/advice or offering families a chance to take home activity bags to continue learning out and about - even something so small, it can and will have such a positive impact on a child’s overall development.
Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.
Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!
