A bright and spacious nursery in rural Ampfield

Our beautiful nursery in Ampfield is on the main road between Romsey and Winchester, surrounded by a peaceful woodland environment. Everything from our inspiring facilities to the knowledge of our nurturing staff supports your child’s development from the age of 3 months to 5 years.

Four separate, age-specific rooms give every child the space to discover their skills. The baby room is sensory focused and features a specialised baby gym to promote good physical development. Our toddler room has a home corner, creative area and cosy area. The nursery room is set up with toys in stimulating environments to encourage their growing independence. Toilets and nappy changing are available in both rooms to support each child’s needs with potty training. The preschool room has a role-play area that gets transformed into many different experiences from the children’s interests or festivals. Dedicated areas for books, construction and natural art mean children have plenty of enriching options for learning.

Ampfield nursery boasts an extensive outdoor space with room for every age group. The baby garden overlooks the rest of the nursery, so babies can enjoy the outside and watch the other children at play. Older children delight in playing on the obstacle course, logs, planks and tyres. We have even built a ‘road’ for the bikes and scooters, using coloured cones for traffic lights. Our Nature Nursery is the highlight of the garden, used by all rooms and set back in a wooded exploration area. Children enjoy building dens and studying the wildlife. It’s also the perfect location for a summer picnic!

Our all-inclusive fees include all meals, snacks, nappies, wipes and more, so you don’t need to pack as much in the mornings. We have onsite car parking for drop offs and pickups, and we are on the Romsey to Winchester number 66 bus route.

We would love to meet you and your little one, so book a visit today and we will show you all our nursery has to offer during your own personal tour.

Meet the Team

Ampfield Day Nursery and Preschool Manager

Jennifer Pethick

My entire career has been spent in early years and I've specialised in supporting children and families with additional needs. I've managed nurseries since 2007 and I'm especially happy to be here at Ampfield because of my love of the outdoors. I'm a mother of 3 grown-up boys and a proud Grandma!

Ampfield Day Nursery and Preschool Deputy Manager

Heather Hellard

I’ve worked my way up in the nursery from nursery nurse now to Deputy manager before Yellow dot I use to work in a Montessori nursery.  Within my time at working with this nursery I studied for my BA honours in Early Years level 6 qualification. After graduation I took a break and went to work in a ski resort being a head nanny and running the ski nursery. I love working with children and hope to continue the nursery and my own development.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
