My Journey with Bright Horizons started in September 2016. After I finished my degree in Psychology, back in Spain, I decided to look for work experience and visit England. I also wanted to be more fluent in speaking English. I was delighted when I applied for a job at Bright Horizons Didsbury nursery and got accepted. I have many nephews and nieces back in Spain and I have always enjoyed spending time with them and with my degree, I felt I can naturally build on my qualification and improve my English at the same time.
Looking back I feel I have been really blessed with meeting such a supportive and friendly bunch of people. At Didsbury, we have a strong Spanish community, we look out for each other, which was very valuable, especially at the beginning. The help has always been there, whenever I was looking for an accommodation or trying to enrol in an English course.
Tracy has been a fantastic nursery manager and helped me to grow professionally and as a person. I feel I can speak to her whenever I need to. Because there have been several Spanish speaking staff working at the Didsbury nursery, she has been encouraging us to speak to the children in Spanish, which we (and the children really enjoy). The parents really like the idea of their children picking up naturally some of the Spanish vocabulary and I am really proud to be able to share part of my heritage.
I don’t know what the future holds for me but one thing is for sure, the experience at Bright Horizons Didsbury has been the most rewarding.
