World Book Day

Date: 03 Mar 2016

Today is World Book Day. Nurseries across the country will be celebrating this date and your child may be invited to share their favourite book or come in dressed up as their favourite book character, such as Elsa from Frozen or Spider Man. You might even see the staff dressed up as their favourite character.

It’s never too early to start reading to your child. Many children adore stories and that special time with their parent or carer. And there is evidence to show that just ten minutes reading a day with a child can make a huge difference and can help them fall in love with reading, expand their vocabulary and ignite their imagination? Join your local library for free access to the wonderful written word by finding a library here: findalibrary.org.

Also why not check out our Growing Readers Newsletters which have details of our Books of Excellence that have been chosen by children and staff. These are available in your child’s Nursery, along with copies of the books each term.

Your child will be given an extra special £1 World Book Day Book Token. The Book Token is a gift from booksellers and book publishers and can be exchanged for one of TEN exclusive World Book Day £1 books OR used to get £1off any full-price book which costs £2.99 or more.

The World Book Day Token can be redeemed at many book retailers including Waterstones, WHSmith, Tesco and Asda as well as most independent bookshops!

The Book Token is valid from 29 February to 27 March.
