A place to grow

Manchester Day Nursery in central Manchester is a purpose-built environmentally friendly concept nursery situated within the heart of Macintosh Village. Our nursery was awarded 'Outstanding' by Ofsted in March 2020.

It is conveniently situated close to major bus, train and tram routes around Oxford Road. Our nursery has three well equipped base rooms and two large outside play areas, which is a rarity for a city centre nursery. Our team of experienced childcare professionals work closely with parents to support the learning and development of their child, including play and learning at home ideas to support them in reaching their full potential.

Our unique Healthy Hearts and Minds activities provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences using the innovative and well established Boogie Mites and myHappymind programmes.

An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

Our parent room compliments these relationships by being a dedicated area for families and key workers to support partnership and communication between nursery and home. Early drop off and late pick up is available, bookable in advance for a small fee.

Meet the Team

Macintosh Nursery Manager

Chloe Barwick

I am very passionate about working with children in the early years, having a wide variety of experience throughout my career in childcare. I have a BA Honours in Childhood, Youth and Early Years and have qualified as an Early Years Teacher. I am always striving to ensure children learn and develop to their full potential whilst in my care, providing them with opportunities to challenge and stimulate them, using my knowledge and understanding of child development to achieve this.

Manchester Day Nursery and Preschool Deputy Manager

Maria Ahmed

I joined Bright Horizon in August 2018. I have been supporting children’s care, learning and development since 2004 in various child care settings, and I have been a Deputy Manager since 2007. I have a level 3 childcare qualification and hold a CERT ED teaching qualification.
I am very passionate about delivering outstanding childcare to children and believe that all children deserve to be in an environment that is safe, stimulating and enriched with quality learning experiences.

Candy Floss

Candy Floss

Hi, my name is Candy Floss, I joined Bright Horizons in March 2010 as the ‘Super Safety Hero’ to help nursery children stay safe and manage risks. My role as a Health and Safety Super Hero is unique to Bright Horizons and I’m in every nursery, 365 days a year.

Back in 2010, I saw a job advert for a Zebra Super Safety Hero – I was very excited, applied and was invited for an interview with several other zebras. We were interviewed by all the children who then voted on which of us would be their Super Safety Hero. It was hoof biting but I was thrilled when they told me I was the most voted for by the children who all loved me because of my cape and bag. My bag is very special, if something fits inside, it’s a choking hazard. You might be wondering how I got my name. The children in our nurseries chose five names and voted for their favourite. I love it as it’s unique, I mean have you ever heard of a zebra called Candy Floss? Exactly!

Why Bright Horizons

The Bright Horizons passion and enthusiasm for providing high-quality care isn’t just common knowledge within our own business – we’ve also gained some impressive accolades from external sources for excellence as both a childcare provider, and as an employer. We are the only childcare company to have been listed for the last 11 years as one of the country’s top 50 “Great Places to Work” by the Great Place to Work Institute.
