Englefield Green children use bread for hand wash experiment
Date: 29 Nov 2019
Children at Bright Horizons Englefield Green Nursery and Preschool in Egham, Surrey have been exploring germs as part of their STEM study recently.
The children took part in an experiment where they touched bread with different types of hands. The first piece was touched with muddy hands, the second with hands washed without soap, the third with hands washed with soap and the last piece was touched by a carer wearing a glove.
“All the pieces were sealed in bags and the children are observing the bread for the next few weeks to see what happens,” said Deputy Nursery Manager, Maria Dymock. “Activities like this are so important to the children’s education as it encourages them to learn about the wider world around them.”
