Bournemouth nursery shortlisted for prestigious award
Date: 14 Oct 2019
Bright Horizons Talbot Woods Day Nursery and Preschool at Bournemouth University has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Forest or Beach School/Kindergarten Award, specifically for its forest school initiative, as part of Nursery Management Today’s annual awards recognition.
Winners of the NMT Nursery Awards 2019 will be presented with their trophies at the high profile Gala Night held on Saturday 30th November 2019 at the London Hilton Metropole, attended by more than 500 guests.
“We are absolutely delighted to be a finalist for the NMT awards for the forest school category,” said Nursery Manager Jane Gordon. “As the Nursery Manager and the forest school lead for the nursery, I am thrilled to see the success forest school sessions have delivered over several years. I am incredibly proud of my staff for enabling a learner-centred approach which happens in the forest and back at the nursery.
“We are privileged to have a forest school based off-site within our local community, where we hold forest school sessions for children 3 months to 5 years. Our sessions promote holistic development for our children, creating a sense of awe and wonder at each session. Forest schools sessions are a collaborative approach to enable staff to plan desired outcomes for our children, supporting the development of a relationship between every individual child and the natural world whilst hearing the sound of rustling trees, bird tweeting and the fun and laughter that is had at each session. Judging day is soon approaching and I am looking forward to sharing all that we do, followed by celebrations with the team for all their contributions to enable us to do what we do and be chosen as a finalist.”
