Cambridge nursery receives ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted

Date: 09 Oct 2018

Bright Horizons Wolfson Court Day Nursery and Preschool in Cambridge has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ after receiving its recent Ofsted inspection.

The nursery received its inspection on September 5th and was rated as ‘Outstanding’ in all four areas of inspection: Effectiveness of the leadership and management; Quality of teaching, learning and assessment; Personal development, behaviour and welfare; Outcomes for children. The ‘Outstanding’ is also an improvement on the ‘Good’ rating the nursery last received from Ofsted four years ago.

Inspection activities included the inspector observing activities that took place both in the indoor play areas and the outdoor learning environment. Comments from the Ofsted report included:

  • Children thrive in this superbly well-organised environment which provides an immediate impression of high-quality learning, liveliness and energy. Parents say their children are safe and well cared for, and are learning very well while having fun. All children, including those who speak English as an additional language, make rapid progress.
  • All staff expertly promote children’s communication and language skills, making excellent use of conversation in every activity. They vary questions to extend children’s understanding and they give children time to work their ideas through.
  • Staff have forged excellent relationships with children and join in their activities. This supports children’s excellent behaviour.
Nursery Manager, Michela Clements, commented: “We as a nursery are so proud of the outcome. I am honoured to manage such a passionate and dedicated team who always look at new ways for the children to thrive by providing exceptional care and education. It is fantastic to be recognised as an ‘Outstanding’ nursery by Ofsted.”
