Balham nursery receives Good rating from Ofsted

Date: 03 Oct 2018

Bright Horizons Asquith Balham Day Nursery and Pre-School has been rated ‘Good’ after its most recent Ofsted inspection.

The nursery received its inspection on August 31st and was rated as ‘Good’ in three out of four areas of inspection: Effectiveness of the leadership and management; Quality of teaching, learning and assessment; Outcomes for children. It also received an ‘Outstanding’ for Personal development, behaviour and welfare.

Inspection activities included the inspector observing the interaction between both staff and children, as well as speaking with the children where appropriate. Comments from the report included:

  • Staff plan well for children and assess them effectively to provide suitable challenges. They give children interesting activities based on what they need to learn next. Children make good progress.
  • Staff manage children’s behaviour very effectively. They teach children excellent awareness of their feelings and those of others, and children remind each other of positive ways to behave towards each other.
  • The manager has good knowledge of the nursery’s strengths and weaknesses and has identified clear goals to build ongoing improvements.

“We are pleased that our nursery has been recognised as an effective place for children to progress in this positive Ofsted report,” said Nursery Manager Harriet Mukuka. “We will continue to strive for excellence and make further improvements as we move forward.”
