Children at Bright Horizons Reigate Day Nursery and Preschool have recently been exploring what they can see at night time, following up on an interest in a puzzle showing stars and planets.
The children listened to a story about an astronaut and talked about what he needed to do to be ready for his journey and what he might see on the way. They thought about what it would feel like to be in space and what he would see there. The children then looked at pictures of different stars and talked about constellations.
“They all had lots of fun making constellations using spaghetti, icing and mini marshmallows,” said Nursery Manager Louise Peek. “Lots of skills were developed including listening, turn taking, sharing, thinking about how to join different things together, thinking about the world around us and asking and answering questions.”
