Bright Horizons Active Learning Southgate Day Nursery has been rated ‘Good’ in its recent Ofsted inspection.
The nursery received its inspection on September 1st and was rated as ‘Good’ in all four areas of inspection: Effectiveness of the leadership and management; Quality of teaching, learning and assessment; Outcomes for children; Personal development, behaviour and welfare.
Inspection activities included the inspector observing activities both in the indoor and outdoor play areas, whilst also speaking to staff and children throughout the inspection where appropriate. Comments from the report included:
- Staff highly value each child and celebrate their achievements, large and small. Children are confident, self-motivated and keen learners.
- Self-evaluation is effective. The senior management team monitors children’s progress effectively and makes good use of this information to plan for improvements, such as strengthening the programme for mathematics.
- Children make good progress. Staff carry out regular, good-quality assessments of children, which they used effectively to plan children’s next steps for learning. This results in suitably challenging activities that cover all areas of learning and, overall, meet children’s needs well.
“We’re pleased to have received this positive report from Ofsted,” said Nursery Manager Alyson Slattery. “We look forward to continuing our positive programme of education and enhancing the lives and learning of our children at the nursery.”
