Children at Bright Horizons Englefield Green Nursery and Preschool in Egham, Surrey recently made their own fruit kebabs as part of the organisation’s Growing Up Healthy initiative and Creative Cooks enhancement.
The children were able to choose their own fruit for their kebab from a selection including banana, plum and pineapple. They also had the opportunity to dip the fruit into icing.
“We discussed the colours of the fruit, what fruits the children ate at home, what their favourite fruit was and how many pieces they had on their kebab,” said Charlotte Martin, acting deputy nursery manager.
Bright Horizons’ Creative Cooks enhancement aims to encourage creativity in cooking.
