Children at Bright Horizons Elsie Inglis Nursery and Preschool in Edinburgh recently created their own paint brushes after collecting a variety of natural materials.

The children went on a nature hunt where they collected a range of loose parts and materials, which they brought back to the nursery. They then selected which materials they wanted to use, in order to construct their paint brush, and began using them accordingly with help from staff.

“The children were able to create different marks depending on the materials selected and spoke about the patterns each one made,” said Deputy Nursery Manager Kate Hubbert.
