Children at Bright Horizons Bank Street Day Nursery and Preschool in Canary Wharf were excited to take part in an outdoor physical activity last week.
Led by Fahima Miah, the children went for a walk along the bank outside the nursery and then took part in an exercise session which saw them march in time and do star jumps, among other things. Nichola Griffin, deputy nursery manager, explained that similar initiatives are a regular occurrence at the nursery.
“We have been trying to push the outdoor activities so that every child gets to go outside every day and do more than just walk around Canary Wharf,” said Griffin “The children also recently went up to the rooftop garden where they used magnifying glasses to take part in a bug hunt and observe the differences between the plants. There is also an area just around the corner which has benches and is enclosed, so it’s a nice big area for the children to run around and take part in physical activity.”
