Children at Bright Horizons Elsie Inglis Nursery and Preschool in Edinburgh have planted their own beanstalks, as part of the organisation’s Green Gardeners enhancement.

The children recently read the story “Jack and the Beanstalk” and were asked to identify what they remembered and their understanding of the story. They then went on to plant their own beanstalks.

“We are caring for the beanstalks daily,” said Deputy Nursery Manager Kate Hubbert. “The children also created their own castles with the hope that their beanstalks will reach the top.”

The Green Gardeners enhancement aims to provide children with opportunities to interact with the natural world around them.
