St Mary’s children create volcano in science experiment
Date: 21 Feb 2017
Children at Bright Horizons St Mary’s Day Nursery and Preschool in Abingdon recently created a volcano, in an activity part of the organisation’s Growing Scientists enhancement.
The children mixed together food colouring, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda and watched on as the explosion occurred. They then used pots and pipettes to explore that mock lava.
“The children were fascinated by the activity and opportunity to enhance their scientific knowledge in this way,” said Nursery Manager Sara Deacon. “They loved creating and then learning all about volcanoes so much that they have repeated it four times already.”Bright Horizons Growing Scientists enhancement aims to help children to become familiar with scientific activities that occur in their everyday lives.
