Children at Bright Horizons Countess of Chester Day Nursery and Preschool have been taking part in different cooking and gardening activities, as part of two of the organisation’s Growing Enhancements — Creative Cooks and Green Gardeners.
The children have been making pastry by mixing ingredients and using rolling pins indoors, whilst outdoors they have been preparing soil for plants to grow ahead of the spring season.
“The children were excited to create the pastry and get more experience of working with different food ingredients in the kitchen,” said Nursery Manager Eileen Morrey. “They were also eager to prepare the soil as they always look forward to seeing what comes of our planting initiatives in the spring.”
Bright Horizons Creative Cooks programme aims to encourage children to be creative in cooking, while Green Gardeners encourages the children’s natural interests and gives them opportunities to interact with the natural world around them.
