Bright Horizons Abbeymore Nursery in Reading has been rated ‘Good’ after its most recent Ofsted inspection.
The nursery received its inspection on December 9th and was rated as ‘Good’ in three areas of inspection being: effectiveness of the leadership and management; Quality of teaching, learning and assessment; Outcomes for children. It was also rated ‘Outstanding’ for personal development, behaviour and welfare.
Inspection activities included Nursery Manager Sally Newell taking part in joint observations with the inspector and the inspector also sampling a number of documents including self-evaluation, safeguarding, staff performance files and risk assessments. Comments from the report directly included the following:
- Leaders and managers provide good opportunities for parents and children to give feedback to the nursery. They make positive changes, such as encouraging children to contribute to their own learning journeys. For example, children take photographs to show what they have learnt.
- Staff assess children’s starting points and carefully plan worthwhile experiences, which use their interests. Children make good progress in their learning and development.
- Staff have excellent relationships with the children. They cater for children’s emotional and physical development extremely well. Staff value children’s opinions and are extremely astute to identifying when they need support.
“I’m pleased the bond between all of the staff, children and parents has been recognised in our latest report from Ofsted,” said Newell. “We were delighted to achieve a rating of outstanding for personal development, behaviour and welfare and will now be striving to achieve the same in the other areas of inspection the next time Ofsted arrive.”
