Children at Bright Horizons Teddies Esher Day Nursery and Preschool in Surrey have made their own ice balls, an exercise that enabled them to explore their senses.
The children poured water into balloons and placed them in the freezer overnight, using pink food colouring on some for effect. The next day, the children took out the balloons and realised that had, in turn, created their own marbles.
“They were cold on our hands but we really enjoyed rolling them around,” said Nursery Manager Ashlea Sexton. “We talked about the shapes and colours we could see. All the children had a great time playing with the marbles that we had made and also using their senses to explore.”
