Heron Quays Nursery receives Good rating in first Ofsted report
Date: 19 Dec 2016
Bright Horizons Heron Quays Day Nursery and Preschool in Canary Wharf has been rated ‘Good’ after its first Ofsted inspection.
The nursery received its inspection on November 23rd and was rated as ‘Good’ in all four areas of inspection: Effectiveness of the leadership and management; Quality of teaching, learning and assessment; Personal development, behaviour and welfare; Outcomes for children.
Inspection activities included the inspector sampling a range of documentation and observing staff’s interaction during activities. The inspector also spoke with parents, the provider, staff and children at appropriate times. Comments in the report included the following:
- Partnerships with parents are strong; staff work consistently with parents to support children’s welfare and ongoing development. For example, they share observations, assessments and the next steps in children’s individual learning.
- The manager uses thorough procedures to ensure staff are suitable to work with children and regularly checks their ongoing suitability.
- The management team successfully monitors staff practice and provides effective ways to support their professional development. For example, staff use the company’s website to complete various online training courses. Following training, they are now implementing improved strategies to support children’s behaviour.
“I’m proud of our staff and everyone involved with the nursery in the hard work they’ve put in that has resulted in this positive Ofsted report, said, Emma Van Rooyen, Nursery Manager. “We will continue to reflect on our practice and strive for improvements to ensure we are constantly providing the best learning environment for the children in our care.”
