Children at Bright Horizons Kings Cottage Nursery in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire have just enjoyed a week packed with pumpkins in the lead up to Halloween.
As part of the Growing Scientists programme, the children studied the size and shape of different pumpkins using magnifying glasses and sensory trays. The children also made mini pumpkin bread loaves, as part of the Creative Cooks programme, as well as playing pumpkin bowling in the garden.
“Our activities all week involved pumpkins which the children enjoyed participating in,” said Nursery Manager Aimee Bishop. “ We are glad we were able to incorporate to of our programmes with some of the activities around using pumpkins.”
The Growing Scientists programme aims to help children identify scientific activities in everyday life while the Creative Cooks programmes encourages them to be creative when cooking.
