Beckenham children show green side

Date: 07 Oct 2016

Children at Bright Horizons Teddies Beckenham Day Nursery in Kent have been learning more about herbs planted in the garden, as part of the Green Gardeners programme and Growing Up Healthy Week.

The children learned of what plants need to help them grow and they then made labels which outlined this as such.

“By involving them with the writing of the labels, we are developing their writing and mark making skills,” said Nursery Manager Sarah Brooks. “By them being involved with the making of the labels, it will encourage them to show more of an interest in what is in their garden and promote their skills of caring for plants.”

The Green Gardeners programme aims to encourage the children’s interest in the natural world around them.
