Preschool children at Bright Horizons Teddies Southfields in London recently visited the local library, as part of the organisation’s Growing Readers programme.

The children selected their own books to read and then sat down to read to each other during story time. They then went on to use the computer and select which books they wanted to take back to the nursery.

“The children thoroughly enjoyed their trip to the library and reading all of the different stories in the books,” said Nursery Manager Lydia Howard. “They were all able to practise and enhance their reading skills to great effect and we are all looking forward to reading more stories that were brought back from the library.”

The Growing Readers programme emphasises the importance of reading aloud and aims to cultivate a love of books.
