Children at Bright Horizons North Cheam Day Nursery and Preschool in Sutton have been taking part in a sensory play exercise to aid development of their natural skills.

A sensory box was created at the nursery and placed in the baby care room for the children to explore. It was filled with lots of different materials, including ribbons, soft toys and shawls.

“It is natural for young children to pull at things to see what happen. It doesn’t matter how many times the outcome is the same, they will continue to test theories and experiment which is all part of their learning and development,” said Nursery Manager Sarah Burge. “The various ribbons and materials created a wonderful sensory experience.”
