Date: 20 Sep 2016

Children at Bright Horizons North Cheam Day Nursery and Preschool in Sutton celebrated International Talk Like a Pirate Day in full force on September 19th.

The children and staff at the nursery spoke the language of pirates throughout the day, including exchanging “hello” for “ahoy me hearties” and “oh dear” for “shiver me timbers.”

The children also participated in a variety of pirate-themed activities including a treasure hunt, walk the plank and a role play. Refreshments included pirate treasure biryani, fruits of the sea sandwiches and golden dubloon cookies.

“The children had lots of fun throughout the day and we were delighted with their participation in the role play in particular,” said Nursery Manager Sarah Burge. “The skills being used ranged from physical exercise to those of a more moral nature, including decision making. Both boys and girls are equally engaged in this active play.”
