Bright Horizons Mongewell Park Day Nursery and Preschool in Wallingford, Oxfordshire has been selected as a finalist for the Outdoor Learning Environment Award, as part of the 2016 National NMT (Nursery Management Today) Nursery Awards.

The Outdoor Learning Environment Award is awarded to the nursery who creates the best outdoor 'living classroom' that inspires and excites children.

The outdoor space at Mongewell Park includes a bug garden, mud kitchen, sensory garden and forest school. All of those areas support key aspects of learning play including physical skills, social skills, confidence and imagination. The outdoor space can also be used for sleeping, eating or as a social area.

The children were involved in the planning and creation of the outdoor space, giving them a sense of pride each time they use it. It provides a great platform for Bright Horizons’ Green Gardeners programme, which aims to help children become familiar with the natural world around them.

Mongewell Park Nursery is recognised as Outstanding by Ofsted.

The 2016 National NMT Nursery Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 26th November at the Hilton London Metropole.

Sarah McGill, Nursery Manager, said, “We are delighted that our nursery has been selected as a finalist for this prestigious award. The outdoor space at the nursery provides an outstanding facility for the children to learn and venture their imagination.”
