Children at Bright Horizons Hinchley Wood Day Nursery and Preschool in Esher, Surrey have conducted an experiment involving Skittles sweets, as part of the organisation’s Growing Scientists programme.
The children placed the Skittles on a plate in a circle and then added warm water. They then watched as the colours moved into the middle of the plate without mixing.
“The children were amazed at what happened and said it looked like a rainbow,” said Nursery Manager Julie Court. “To further this, we are going to explore how to colour mix and what colours you might mix together to make others.”
The Growing Scientists programme aims to help children identify scientific activities that occur in their everyday lives.
