Children at Bright Horizons Englefield Green Nursery and Preschool in Surrey have made an upside down apple cake, in the latest exercise part of the organisation’s Creative Cooks programme.
The children picked the apples from the nursery garden and prepared the apples by washing and peeling them. They then made the cake mixture before adding this onto the apples and baking.
“The children had great fun making their own upside down apple cake and learning where their food comes from,” said Alice Blackman, nursery manager. “Our plan was to make a cake for the whole nursery and afterwards we ate it for pudding.”
