Children and staff Chineham Park Day Nursery and Preschool in Basingstoke have taken full part in Growing Up Healthy Week through a range of initiatives.
Staff have been promoting healthy eating by handing put vegetable stick pots to the children as they leave for home. The staff also asked the parents to promote similar healthy eating habits at home.
The children also enjoyed learning about how to clean their teeth properly. They took part in an activity involving large toy teeth and had to clean them with toothbrushes.
The children were also taught about germs and were involved in a germ experiment involving water and sand. They soaked their hands in water and placed them into the sand to see how much of it would stick. The importance of hand washing was also emphasised.
“All the children joined in with the healthy activities and they thoroughly enjoyed each and every one,” said Amy Sharp, nursery manager. “We also created some bug hunts and obstacle courses so they could take part in some physical activity.”
