Children at Bright Horizons Teddies Esher Day Nursery and Preschool in Surrey have been conducting experiments to create mini explosions, as part of the organisation’s Growing Scientists programme.

The children watched the chemical reactions take place, after placing Mentos sweet into fizzy drinks where an explosion occurred. A variety of fizzy drinks were used as the children recorded which one resulted in the largest explosion.

“The children were amazed at what happened and had lots of funs watching the mini explosions take place,” said Nursery Manager Rageena Abbas. “The experiments were a great way to continue our Growing Scientists programme.”

The Growing Scientists programme aims to help children identify scientific activities that occur in their everyday lives.
