Toddlers at Bright Horizons Crewe Day Nursery and Preschool have been learning about the safe use of knives, prior to health and safety week this coming September.

Bright Horizons’ health and safety mascot Candy Floss was present as the children spoke about how to use knives and why they can be dangerous. Each child was then given the opportunity to use a knife in a safe manner, by cutting up cucumber which was then fed to the snails.

That then led to a further discussion on personal hygiene when dealing with animals.

“Safety is of the utmost importance to us at Bright Horizons and teaching the children how to use a knife safely is another example of emphasising that,” said Nursery Manager Claire Chadwick. “The children were very satisfied with their efforts in cutting the cucumber.
