Church Crookham children embrace Olympic spirit
Date: 01 Sep 2016
Children at Bright Horizons Church Crookham Day Nursery and Preschool in Fleet, Hampshire have celebrated the Rio 2016 Olympic Games by holding their own mini Olympics, as part of the organisation’s Active Athletes programme.
The nursery held its own opening ceremony where the children walked around the garden holding different flags they had made, followed by a party with Rio Samba music.
There was also a sports day, which saw the children participate in running races, hoopla games and bean bag throwing contests. They also painted their own version of the Olympic rings.
“The celebrations lasted throughout an entire week and the children had lots of fun,” said Nursery Manager Gemma Lacy. “We were delighted they showed their sporting spirit while encouraging each other throughout the games.”
Bright Horizons’ Active Athletes learning approach aims to provide children with physical activity opportunities throughout the course of the day.
