Children at Bright Horizons Teddies Basingstoke have been getting to grips with the great outdoors, after taking part in a gardening exercise.
The children planted herbs, which included mint chocolate and lemon balm, to discover the smell of each. They were intrigued to find the smell became more intense when touching and rubbing each herb with their fingers.
The children then continued to water the plants while checking the soil for rocks and weeds.
“The children showed great enthusiasm when planting the herbs,” said Nursery Manager Claire Chadwick. “We were delighted to see the children learn more about the planting process as part of our Green Gardeners programme.”
Bright Horizons’ Green Gardeners programme aims to encourage the children’s interest in the natural world around them.
