Children at Bright Horizons Crewe Day Nursery and Preschool have been looking at 4D baby scan photographs, provided by the staff, in order to observe the numbers they could see.
The children also analysed what the numbers mean and were then provided with a graph and squared paper to draw their own baby scan photograph.
As well as being part of the company’s Growing Mathematicians programme, the activity also educated on the different emotions babies and children go through.
“A lot of the children are having a younger brother or sister coming into their family so all of them were fascinated to look at the baby scan photos,” said Nursery Manager Claire Chadwick. “It was also beneficial for their numeracy skills to look at and analyse the numbers.”
The Growing Mathematicians programme supports children in understanding mathematics and the importance of it in everyday life.
