Children create their own stories for the World Book Day

Date: 03 Mar 2016

Youngsters from kidsunlimited Toyota Bumpers Day Nursery and Preschool brought in their favourite books to share with friends and celebrate the day of literacy – World Book Day.

The excitement built in the nursery when the children dressed up as their favourite book characters, with exciting and inspiring costumes to really bring the stories to life. The children had lots of fun reading and discovering new stories, and taking part in many activities. They even wrote their own stories too; one of them was about Elsa from Frozen and how she went shopping and cooked dinner.

However, the most popular story of the day was ‘The Very Lazy Ladybird’ shared by Molly, age 3. The book told the story of a very lazy ladybird who had to learn to fly.

The Nursery Manager, Juli Jones, said: “Throughout the year we try to foster a life-long love of reading as part of our bespoke Growing Readers programme. World Book Day is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the children’s favourite stories and the enjoyment of reading.”
