A hug a day keeps the doctor away
Date: 25 Jan 2016
The children from Bright Horizons Callands Day Nursery and Preschool (formally kidsunlimited) on Gresford Close celebrated ‘National Hug Day’ which encourages people to hug family and friends more often.
National Hug Day’s official website says that, "Whether you hug a family member or a stranger, the mental and physical health benefits are the same. Hugging reduces stress and blood pressure as examples of health benefits."
Nursery Manager, Denise Sharkey explained: “During the day we spoke about friendships, compassion and why it’s important to be kind to each other. The children said that being kind made them feel ‘special’, ‘happy’ and ‘loved’.”
