Children learn about autumn

Date: 01 Dec 2015

Beautiful colours, crunchy leaves and misty air, it was agreed by children from kidsunlimited Tadpoles Day Nursery Kirkstall Road that autumn is an amazing season.

The children took great delight in throwing the leaves into the air and showering their friends in a cascade of autumn colours. Plenty questions were asked: “Why do leaves fall? Why is it dark so soon? What do animals do when it’s cold?” giving the staff a great opportunity for discussion about this time of year. The highlight for the children was an outdoor adventure in the nursery garden using torches to make shadows and flicker beams of light across the coloured walls.

Nursery Manager, Fiona Stewart, explains: “The children really enjoyed our autumn activates, and have already asked if we can do similar ones for the other seasons.  As always we look to promote naturally inspiring activities that encourage children to play and explore, to discover and grow, to learn and understand.”
