Matt's Day -the Two to Threes Room
Highlights of the day
Matt eagerly helped us sort out plastic bottles and cardboard boxes for our Going Green recycling bins. He told his friend Jamal that all the bottles we collect make Eco Ted very happy. Next week we plan to start collecting 2 litre size plastic drink bottles to make a greenhouse for our vegetable garden. We need 200 bottles!
In Gardening club today Matt helped plant lettuce and radish seeds. We also picked our first green beans of the season and dug up new potatoes for lunch. Matt was very excited at finding the potatoes in the soil “it’s like pirate treasure” he shouted. Paul the cook was delighted with our harvest and cooked them for our lunch today.
Matt spent lots of time experimenting with testing out what floated and what sank in the water tray today. He tested each item, watching intently to see if it would float or sink and began to get very accurate with his predictions. He clearly is showing signs of being a budding scientist.
Story time today was Matt’s Growing Readers book choice “Something Else” by Katryn Cave. The part he talked about most was how sad it was when the animals said that Something Else didn’t belong. The story is one about having a sense of belonging and celebrating diversity. Tomorrow we are going to create our own “We are Unique” 3D box displays celebrating our uniqueness and sense of belonging. We welcome any photos of family members, pets and adventures that Matt can use to create his own box display. Look out for these being displayed along the corridor over the next few weeks.
Candy Floss our Safety super hero joined us today and talked about playing safely with the wooden blocks. Sometimes the children have been a bit too excited with building tall towers and we need to be sure they manage this safely. Matt loved meeting Candy Floss and asked if Candy Floss can come home with him this weekend. Each weekend Candy Floss goes home with a child and has a trip somewhere like the park or the shops. We ask each child to share with us how Candy Floss helped them play safely by adding photos and a story to Candy Floss’ special book. We know you will all enjoy having Candy Floss coming to stay this weekend to help you stay safe.
