Sophie’s Day - Toddler Room
Highlights of the day
Sophie had a great time at nursery today!
We had a Prime Time snuggle time together on the sofa sharing our Growing Readers book of the month ‘Dear Zoo’.
Lifting the flaps to find out which animals were underneath was so exciting. Sophie had great fun copying the animal names and sounds – we loved hissing like snakes and ‘Elephant’ is her new word today! Sharing books together promotes language development and a love of literacy – all part of our ‘Growing Readers’ initiative.
Sophie explored finger painting for the first time today. She busily made dabbing marks and lines with her index finger – these early grapho-motor skills are so important for building sound early foundations for writing, and they are so much fun for toddlers (and for us staff too!)
Playing in the house area is always Sophie’s favourite choice and today we put out a new tea set. She loved putting a cup on each plate and placing a spoon in each cup. These one to one correspondence skills developed through play are important early maths skills, as well as letting children learn about ‘social conventions’ like tea-time!
Of course all of the Teddies were all given cups of tea!
Tomorrow in Cookery Club we are going to make Rice Crispie cakes and have a Teddy bears picnic in the garden. Please bring Sophie’s Teddy tomorrow so he can join in the fun!
