Aly’s Day - Pre School

Highlights of the day

During Gardening Club today Aly helped with designing and planting our second Fairy Garden.

She was keen on helping out after she noticed we didn’t have any pink flowers in there;

Maybe the Fairies haven’t visited yet because there are no pink flowers – fairies love pink!

She helped mark out the planting circle and reminded us that we needed measure out 10 hand prints from the centre to mark the radius. She remembered how we made circles using a compass last week and was keen to share her understanding of radius and circumference.

Once the circle was marked out Aly helped plant pink geraniums and pink begonias. She wrote the notice for our Fairy Garden and decorated it with pink sequins. Do look out for pink invitations inviting you to the ‘Grand Opening’ of the Fairy Garden next week!

While we were planting, Candy Floss our safety superhero zebra explained a bit about staying safe in the garden - we must bend our knees and keep our backs straight when lifting plants. He explained this keeps our backs healthy and bendy.

Later Aly shared this back care tip with a bemused Jean the Green Grocer when she delivered our fresh fruit and vegetables!

Aly helped make our posters, to remind everyone of the Walk On fancy dress walk on Friday. Whilst we were making these Aly talked about how our walk will help children who don’t have a safe place to live.

We look forward to you joining our fancy dress walk on round the Garden. The children have set a target of £100 to help support the Bright Horizons Foundationto create a Bright Space for children in a Women’s Refuge.

With all this talk of fairy gardens and fundraising, it was no surprise that in Cookery Club Aly suggested “Let’s make pink fairy cakes tomorrow to sell to Mummies and Daddies on Friday”!
